Concrete was recently poured on the upcoming 8,000 square-foot Skate Park in Bayou Vista. Concrete ramps were also delivered that will sit on top of the concrete for jumps. The skate park will be located next to Central Park on Southeast Boulevard and will be open to everything with wheels that is not motorized. Along with the new skate park, plans include family picnic areas, barbecue pits, benches, restrooms, along with additional parking and a new playground at Central Park double the size of the existing playground. The total project will cost close to $1 million. The majority of the funding is local, along with small federal and state grants. Aegis Construction of LaPlace is handling construction, which is expected to be completed in September.
