Sheriff’s deputies continue to search for the suspect in an attempted armed robbery at the Quick General Store in Amelia.

The incident occurred Tuesday at 9:41 a.m.

According to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office release, the suspect, who was seen brandishing a silver handgun, was wearing a royal blue sweatshirt and a blue ski mask.

He pointed the gun at the clerk, then escorted her from the rear to the front of the store.

At this time, the store employee was able to lock herself in an office.

As a result, the suspect left empty-handed.

He is believed to be a black male about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said his office is continuing to investigate the matter, but he had no further information as of 8:30 a.m. today.

Anyone with information about the suspect should contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-384-1622.
