At around 1 p.m. Thursday, a shooting occurred in the proximity of Shannon Homes and Terrebonne Street. The one shot that was fired was not known to have struck anyone, and then the shooter’s gun apparently jammed, according to Capt. Mike Marino, public information officer of the Morgan City Police Department.

Although there are persons of interest being sought, no suspect has been named, and no warrants have been issued. Police are investigating conflicting witness statements, but Marino said that it appears that the argument was between two males over a woman who is the girlfriend of one of the males and the mother of the other male’s child.

Marino also said that there is no evidence that this shooting is in any way connected to the Siracusaville shooting that happened almost exactly one week before.
