Morgan City police arrested a Berwick man on fourth offense marijuana possession charges Thursday.

David Smith, 32, of La. 182 in Berwick was charged at 5:55 p.m. on warrants for fourth offense marijuana possession, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and having a faulty windshield.

Chief Marc Folse said Smith was stopped on the traffic violations and a substance was found in the vehicle. When a lab report indicating it was marijuana came back, the warrants were issued.

Smith remains incarcerated today in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Also reported by MCPD were:

—Dan Rucker, 48, of Brownsville, Texas, at 10:16 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. He remains incarcerated on $481 bond.

—City Marshals arrested Leanna Steele, 24, at 2:58 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear in city court. She remained incarcerated in lieu of $1,200 bond.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Crystal M. Leal, 26, of Grandwood Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:06 a.m. Thursday at her home for theft and forgery. The complainant stated that the suspect stole checks from his home, and the victim’s bank alerted him. Booked and incarcerated with no bond yet set.

—Michael P. Crouch, 26, of Seventh Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:57 a.m. Thursday at his home on a warrant for simple burglary. The burglary occurred in September 2011 at a local business that reported that copper wire was stolen. Booked and incarcerated with no bond yet set.

The Berwick Police Department reported one arrest overnight, according to Chief James Richard.

—Latrice Lewis, 28, Park Street, Patterson, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hollywood Casino on three counts of child desertion. The BPD received a complaint about three small children ranging in age from four to eight in her vehicle in the casino parking lot. Released on payment of $3,000 bond.

The Patterson Police Department made the following arrests overnight, according to Chief Patrick LaSalle:

—Randolph Anthony Joseph, 20, no address given, was arrested near Cherry and Park streets at 3:24 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana and for resisting an officer with force. Transported to parish jail. No bond information available.

—James Thomas Lumpkin, 42, of Mimosa Place, Lafayette, was arrested on Cleveland Street in Patterson at 9:05 p.m. Thursday for driving under suspension, expired motor vehicle identification, and having only one headlight. Released on payment of $616 bond.

—Anthony P. Ruffin, 33, of Washington Street, Patterson, was arrested near the intersection of Cherry and Muggah streets in Patterson at 11:51 p.m. Thursday on an outstanding warrant for aggravated second-degree battery. Remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.
