Mary Seymour, 99, a resident of Franklin, died Sunday July 8, 2012, at 9:15 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a short illness.
Miss Seymour was born on February 27, 1913 to the late Arabella Pickett Seymour and Wesley Beverly Seymour. She attended St. Mary Parish Training School, currently named J. A. Hernandez, and graduated in 1932. She worked many jobs but was most proud of the domestic services she provided to Dr. Ted Kramer and Family, among other prominent families in the community.
She joined Asbury United Methodist Church at an early age. Until her death she remained committed and attended church services regularly. She held various offices throughout the years including Superintendent of Sunday School, District Steward, Church Secretary, Treasurer, choir member and was currently a member of the United Methodist Women.
Miss Seymour was well respected and valued in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bernadine Seymour Lewis.
Left to cherish her memories are the Barabin and DeFils Families, Alva Charatain and Family of Baldwin and the Asbury (Franklin) United Methodist Church Family.
Visitation will be observed at Asbury United Methodist Church located at 907 Main Street in Franklin on Saturday July 14, from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial rites will be read at 12 noon at the church, with the Rev. Darrel Briggs Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery on Main Street.
The Otis Mortuary in Franklin is in charge of the preparations.
