Arrests made for shoplifting, drugs

The Morgan City Police Department arrested two shoplifters at Rouse’s Supermarket Monday afternoon, according to Chief Marc Folse:

—Jerrie Phillips, 52, of La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. for theft by shoplifting. Store personnel observed Phillips attempting to leave store with $47.73 of merchandise, including a plate lunch and two packages of razors. Booked and incarcerated with no bond yet set.

—Catherine Crockett, 31, of Utah Street, Berwick, was arrested at 3:52 p.m. for theft by shoplifting. Crockett was observed opening a package of Campho-Phenique gel valued at $5.04 and placing it in her pants pocket. She then went to the cat food aisle and attempted to dispose of the packaging by hiding it behind the bags of pet food. She was detained and subsequently arrested, booked and released after posting a $482 bond.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Kristin R. Hull, 22, of Red Cypress Road, Patterson, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. today on Berwick South Road in Berwick for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Released on summons to appear in court.

—Joshua D. Kiffe, 19, of Red Cypress Road, Patterson, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. today on Berwick South Road in Berwick for possession of marijuana. Released on summons to appear in court.
