BATON ROUGE – A portion of Interstate 10 in both directions could be closed until Thursday due to cleanup from a leaking tanker truck.

The busy highway between Essen Lane and Bluebonnet Boulevard in both directions could be closed through the night, State Police said.

A collision between a tanker truck carrying about 9,000 gallons of now-leaking isobutane, and a beer truck occurred about 4 a.m. on I-10 East Wednesday when the tanker slowed for another accident and was hit from behind, destroying its valve system.

At noon, I-10 east was closed at the 10/12 junction. I-10 West was closed at Siegen Lane. The ramp from I-12 West to I-10 East was also closed.
