—Wosha Anthony Ruffin, 34, of 3325 Monterey Dr., Baton Rouge, was arrested at 1:44 p.m. Thursday on Maple Street in Morgan City for transactions involving drug proceeds, reckless operation and a warrant for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
While conducting an investigation into narcotics activity, Narcotics Task Force agents observed Ruffin on a motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed, Hebert stated. During a traffic stop agents located $90,594 in cash in Ruffin’s backpack, he stated. The cash and the motorcycle, a 2011 Yamaha R6, were seized pending forfeiture, he stated. The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation by the Narcotics Division. Ruffin remains jailed with $500,000 bail.
—Preston Harold Duprie, 25, of First Street, Patterson, was arrested at his residence at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. He was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Gregory S. Payne, 37, of Oregon Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 90 in Berwick for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of domestic abuse at a residence in Bayou Vista. The victim told the deputy that Payne grabbed her and in the ensuing scuffle she fell. She was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for treatment, the report stated. Payne remains jailed with bail not set.
—Ronald Billiot Jr., 30, of River Road, Berwick, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday on La. 182 in Siracusaville for possession of marijuana second offense. He was stopped for speeding, and agents of the Narcotics Division smelled the odor of burnt marijuana in the vehicle. He is jailed with bail not set.
—Dina Ray Bailey, 44, of Laura Drive, Patterson, was arrested at her residence at 10:05 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. She was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Bethany Nicole Mecom, 20, of Tiffany Street, Paterson, was arrested at her residence at 10:55 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids. She was booked and jailed and later released on a $4000 bail.
—A juvenile male, 16, of Berwick, was arrested at 4:51 p.m. Thursday at the Walmart in Bayou Vista for theft. The deputy learned from store security that the juvenile was observed placing a music CD in his pants. Store personnel detained the juvenile and recovered the CD valued at $14.88. He was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Four inmates at the parish jail in Centerville were arrested at 3:29 p.m. Thursday for simple battery and theft under $500. The victim, who is also an inmate, told jailers the four inmates attacked him and stole several items from him. He was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital where he was treated.

Two women were arrested at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart in Bayou Vista for shoplifting.
—Jennifer Lozano, 34, of Jamie Court, Bayou L’Ourse.
—Sara Ramirez, 30, of Jamie Court, Bayou L’Ourse.
They were observed on the surveillance system placing several items into bags and then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, the report stated. Both were booked, jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
Morgan City police made the following arrests overnight:
—Shauntell Hartdegen, 29, of Hwy. 20, Schriever, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday on warrants for probation violation and failure to pay probation fees. The arrest was made at the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. She remains jailed with no bail set.
—Houston Back, 31, of U.S. 61, Vicksburg, Miss., was arrested at 3:48 a.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and simple battery. The arrest was made on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the Comfort Inn. He remains jailed with bail set at $984.
—Blake Lambert, 18, of Franklin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana. He remains jailed with no bail set.
The Morgan City Police Department responded to two separate calls about shootings three hours apart Wednesday. One was reported behind Teche Regional Medical Center, and the other was reported on General MacArthur Drive. Officers were unable to find any evidence upon responding to either call, according to Chief Marc Folse.
