St. Mary Parish schools

St. Mary Parish has cancelled all classes and school activities today and Wednesday. The district will use local media outlets to announce the reopening of schools.

Central Catholic High School, Holy Cross Elementary School and Immanuel Christian School, all in Morgan City, also will be closed today and Wednesday. Stephensville Elementary in Assumption Parish will be closed today and Wednesday.

Morgan City

City Court of Morgan City, today and Wednesday.

Today’s meeting of the Morgan City Council has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Morgan City Auditorium Concourse.

South Central Louisiana

Technical Colleges

Due to mandatory evacuations and local municipal closures, as a result of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac, the following emergency preparations will be taken at each of SCLTC’s campuses:

Young Memorial Campus, Morgan City: closed for students at noon today through Wednesday. Classes will resume on Thursday.

Marine Extension Campus, Morgan City: classes are cancelled today and Wednesday. Classes will resume Thursday.

Lafourche Campus, Thibodaux: closed for students today through Wednesday. Classes will resume Thursday.

Galliano Campus: closed for students today and Wednesday. Classes will resume on Thursday.

River Parishes Campus (Reserve): closed for students today and Wednesday. Classes will resume on Thursday.

St. Martin Parish schools

Officials with the St. Martin Parish School Board have announced that schools in Lower St. Martin, Stephensville and Belle River will be closed all day today and Wednesday.

All upper St. Martin Parish Public Schools located in St. Martinville, Catahoula, Parks, Breaux Bridge, and Cecilia along with St. Bernard Catholic School, will close at 1 p.m. today and all day Wednesday.

16th Judicial District Court

The 16th Judicial District Court, parishes of Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary, will be closed today and Wednesday. The court will reopen Thursday. Should additional and updated information become available, it will be posted on the court’s website at www.16jdc.org.

Nicholls State University

NSU will remain closed and classes canceled through Thursday as a result of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Students have not been evacuated from campus, however residence hall students have been encouraged to return home to be with their families. Students who cannot return home will be permitted to remain in the residence halls until further notice.

Social Security offices

The Morgan City Social Security office was among those closed Monday as Tropical Storm Isaac approached Louisiana.

Other Social Security offices closed were New Orleans Downtown, New Orleans West Bank, Kenner, St. Tammany and Houma.

Wildlife areas

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has closed 26 state wildlife management areas in parishes in the expected path of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Included are: the Acadiana Conservation Corridor, Atchafalaya Delta, Attakapas, Biloxi, Elm Hall, Grassy Lake, Hutchinson Creek, Joyce, Lake Boeuf, Lake Ramsey, Manchac, Marsh Island, Maurepas Swamp, Pass a Loutre, Pearl River, Pointe au Chenes, Pomme de Terre, Salvador-Timken, Sandy Hollow, Sherburne, Spring Bayou, State WMA, Tangipahoa, Thistlethwaite, Tunica Hills and White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area.
