Morgan City Mayor Tim Matte said during the latest briefing with the National Weather Service, the NWS said they expect the weather system to continue its slow movement out of the area. Banded rainfall should be expected overnight and into tomorrow with 20-40 mph gusts. Those gusts will continue through the night and into the morning but will gradually subside.
-All St. Mary Parish public and private schools closed Thursday. Young Memorial closed Thursday.
-St. Mary Parish Government Offices will be closed Thursday.
Morgan City:
-At this hour 91 percent of residents have power. Isolated outages remain. Most notably, those affected by the downed power pole on Onstead Street may be without power through the night.
-Sanitation, including debris collection, will run within the city limits Thursday.
-Rainfall has not caused flooding within the city.
-The Atchafalaya River receded to a .3 stage during the storm but currently sits at its pre-storm stage of 2.5. It is expected to rise over night. The city will continue to monitor it but expects no problems in the area.
Patterson:
-A downed Cleco pole with transformer attached is on Tiffany Street. Also, electrical wires and tree branches on Williams Street between Guyther and Hickory streets. Each site has barricades and is to be avoided.
-The water plant suffered roof damage, but this has not affected its ability to function. Otherwise, damage in the city is contained to some minor roof damage, trees and fences downed.
-No flooding has been reported.
Berwick:
-About 15 people and a television news crew utilized the Berwick Civic Center as a shelter of last resort. The shelter is anticipated to remain open until Thursday morning. Anyone utilizing it should bring all necessary supplies.
-Cleco has been working diligently to maintain power in the town. Currently, all power is reported to be working.
-No flooding or major damage has been reported.
-Rainfall totals reported here are 4 inches.
