Morgan City man charged with cocaine possession

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Dawn Mendoza, 37, of Village Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. Thursday at her residence on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice, violation of a uniform controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of a CDS. She remains jailed with bail not set.

—Raymond Leslie, 64, of Highland Drive, Houma, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. today at the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia for disturbing the peace intoxicated and threatening a public official. Responding to a complaint of a subject causing a disturbance, the deputy who came into contact with Leslie smelled the strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the report stated. Leslie repeatedly cursed at the deputy, refusing to give his name, it stated. He remains jailed with a $1,250 bail.

—Jordan Brooks Fontenot, 27, of McDermott Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Thursday for possession of a legend drug (Catapres) and on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed with bail not set.

The Berwick Police Department made three arrests before dawn today, according to Chief James Richard.

—Emilie Katherine Businelle, 19, of Superior Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:03 a.m. in a traffic stop on California and Third streets on warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on payment of a $3,000 bail.

A man and woman living on Driskill Drive in Berwick were arrested at 4:57 a.m. at their residence for domestic abuse battery. Donshea A. Amos, 24, and Kayla L. Woods, 23, both remain jailed with bail not set.

The Patterson Police Department made the following arrests overnight, according to Chief Patrick M. LaSalle:

—Taja Baytop, 19, of Live Oak Street, Patterson, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. today on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Live Oak for driving with no driver’s license. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Tamoz Allen, 17, of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Patterson, was arrested at 12:35 p.m. Thursday at the police department for criminal trespassing, simple burglary and theft under $30. He remains jailed with bond not set.

—Bonita Federer, 44, of La. 663, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Thursday at the Dollar General store in Patterson for shoplifting. She remains jailed with bail not set.
