Woman pleads guility in Medicare wheelchair scam

LAFAYETTE _–A Rayne woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal health care fraud.

Dorothy Cole, 59, owned a company that provided such items as power wheelchairs and scooters to Medicare recipients.

She admitted billing Medicare for a more expensive wheelchair than she provided customers and pocketing the difference - about $175,000.

She faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
