WASHINGTON – Services for former mayor D.W. “Bo” Quirk will be Friday. He died Sept. 18 at age 80.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned Quirk Insurance Agency and was employed by Washington State Bank for 36 years. He was a former mayor and councilman of the Town of Washington.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn; five children and two step-children.
Arrangements are by Lafond-Ardoin, Opelousas.
Mayor, vet of two wars
GRAND COTEAU – Services for Mayor Henry Pierre will be Thursday He died Sept. 18 at age 71.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and held two Purple Hearts. After retiring from the military, he worked for Walmart until retiring again. He was elected mayor in 2010.
Survivors include his wire Virginia and a son.
Arrangements are by Melancon.
Former Guard commandant
LAFAYETTE – Services for former Louisiana Military Academy Commandant Mabry Langlinais will be Friday. He died Sept. 19 at age 85.
He retired from the Louisiana National Guard after 38 years service. He was commandant of the academy at Camp Beauregard for five years and held a number of military decorations.
Survivors include his wife Genevieve, two sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.
Retired Southern administrator
BATON ROUGE – Services for retired Southern University administrator Dr. Kathryn Jordan will be Saturday. She died Sept. 14.
Her post-graduate study was in music and higher education. She was director of Title III programs at Southern for almost 40 years and former state president of Phi Delta Kappa.
Arrangements are by Hall Davis & Son.
Electrical contractor
WEST MONROE – Services for electrical contractor Johnny Hebert will be Thursday. He died Sept. 17 at age 83.
He was a founding board member of both Red River Bank and CenturyLink.
Survivors include his wife Katherine, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.
Physician, former coroner
ST. FRANCISVILLE – Services for long-time physician Dr. Alfred Gould will be Saturday. He died Sept. 8 at age 84.
He practiced here for almost 50 years. For about eight years, he was the only practicing physician in West Feliciana Parish. He was instrumental in raising funds to build the parish hospital. He was coroner for many years.
Survivors include his wife Barbara and five sons.
Radiologist
NEW ORLEANS – Services for radiologist Dr. John Heard, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Sept. 18 at age 77.
He was a partner in Diagnostic Imaging Services and former president of the New Orleans Radiological Society. He was a director of DJ Simmons Co., Farmington, N.M.
Survivors include his wife Anne and four sons.
Arrangements are by Jacob Schoen and Son.
