Local Boy Scout Troop 1 traveled to the Houston Space Center on Sept. 1, with 150 others from Louisiana and Texas. They saw mock-ups of the space shuttle and the international space station as well as samples of moon rock and Martian rock. Scouts built their own rocket and discussed their own design for a space station or lunar colony. They also saw an exhibit on fear and how it impacts different parts of the nervous system based on what the fear is of. Troop 1 will help staff the Franklin finish line for Tour du Teche III on Oct. 6.
