Both Berwick and Patterson high schools fell in three games in their respective district volleyball contests Thursday.

Berwick fell on the road to E.D. White, 10-25, 12-25, 16-25, while Patterson fell at home to Vanderbilt, 11-25, 16-25, 20-25.

In its loss, Berwick (4-12, 0-2 in district) was led by Elizabeth Hover’s three kills, two assists, blocks and digs each and an ace, while Celeste Bowers added three aces and two digs and Abigail Askew, a kill and two blocks.

In Patterson’s loss, Caitlyn Fontenot recorded four points, three aces, nine digs and six kills, while her sister, Carissa Fontenot, added four points, 11 digs, a kill and seven assists.

Other contributors for the Lumberjills (8-6, 1-1) included: Kailyn Johnson, three points, seven digs and kills each and an assist; Rachel Easley, an ace and 10 digs; Rebecca Taylor, eight digs and a kill; Carli McIntyre, 18 digs; and Courtnie Boudreaux, a point, dig and block apiece as well as three kills.

Both Patterson and Berwick will resume action Monday when they face each other at Berwick in district action. Junior varsity action will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by varsity play.
