The Louisiana High School Athletic Association released its unofficial high School football power ratings last week, and for locals, the results are a mixed bag.
According to the rankings, released Tuesday, both Morgan City and Central Catholic are in playoff contention, while Berwick and Patterson have a lot of ground to make up if they want to be one of the top 32 teams selected in Class 3A.
While they are the latest released, these figures — and in some cases, rankings — certainly would have changed with week 5 games played this past weekend.
In Class 4A, Morgan City is tied for 25th place with Tara and Salmen with a power rating of 11.13.
East Jefferson is tops in Class 4A with a 16.78 rating, while Grant and Peabody are tied at 31 with a rating of 10.63.
In Class 3A, Patterson is ranked 52nd with a rating of 8.71, while Berwick is 56th with a rating of 7.33. There are 58 teams in Class 3A.
E.D. White tops Class 3A with a 17.71 rating, while Abbeville is No. 32 with a rating of 10.42.
In Class 1A, Central Catholic is 21st with a rating of 12.21.
Covenant Christian is tops among Class 1A schools with a 20.67 rating, while Delhi is 32nd with a rating of 10.38
