BATON ROUGE — The 2013 1A and 2A state baseball championships have been moved from Ruston to Warhawk Field at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association recently made the announcement on the agreement with the Monore-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau for Monroe-West Monroe to host the event on May 10-11.

While the games originally were set to be played in Ruston, because of a scheduling conflict after the bid was awarded to the Ruston Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, the tournament at that site was canceled.

“We are extremely excited to work with the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau to bring the 2013 1A and 2A state baseball championships to the northeast section of our state,” LHSAA Executive Director Kenny Henderson said in a news release. “We would like to thank them for their continued support of LHSAA championship events and are thrilled to have them host two days of exciting high school baseball finals.”
