“… St. Mary Parish Sheriff's narcotics agents conducting an investigation into illegal drug activity in the Morgan City area observed a suspect in the investigation driving a vehicle,” the news release stated.
“After observing the suspect commit a traffic violation, agents attempted to conduct a stop,” Hebert stated in the news release.
“The suspect then sped away at a high rate of speed. Shortly thereafter the suspect’s vehicle struck another vehicle. The suspect fleeing from agents died as a result of the crash.”
State Police are investigating the fatal wreck and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with investigators, he stated.
