The Morgan City Police Department made the following arrests, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco:

—Andre Martinez, 33, of 2nd Avenue North, Texas City, Texas, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. Thursday at the Best Western Motel for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested after officers were called to the motel about a person smoking marijuana outside of his room. The evidence was collected by the officers and Martinez was arrested. He remains jailed with a $1,482 bail.

—Michael Grubb, 55, of Front Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday for aggravated assault. He was released on $700 bail.

Officers were called to Front Street for a disturbance in which one man was armed with a machete. Upon arrival, officers observed Martin and Grubb on the ground apparently trying to hold each other down. Another witness to the incident was standing on the machete. The officers ordered Martin and Grubb to let each other go, and at that point, Grubb took control of the machete, Blanco said. He was told to drop the machete and he complied. Upon speaking with Grubb, he and his ex-wife were talking outside the residence when Martin came from under the carport. Martin alleges that he and Grubb were fighting and that Grubb threatened him with a machete, the report stated.
