Patterson Garden Club held its October meeting Oct. 16 at the Patterson Area Civic Center.

Meeting theme was “Needled Evergreens for Accent.” Club member Fedora Boudreaux gave a PowerPoint presentation on “How to Preserve and Keep Your Christmas Tree Green.”

Hostesses for the meeting were PGC President Sandra Marshall and Evelyn Estay. Daisy Leblanc created the floral arrangement. Members feasted on a meal of chicken spaghetti, salad and dessert.

The first order of business was to welcome new club member Regina Guidry. Next, Linda Thomas and Iris Roy announced that the Blue Star Marker Ceremony, held in conjunction with Veterans Day, would be 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at City Hall in Patterson. PGC encourages the public to attend.

Marshall, chairman of the Adopt-a-School Committee, asked that a work day be held at Hattie Watts Elementary at 9 a.m. Nov. 3. Members should bring work gloves.

The club’s Garden Therapy Chairman Iris Roy gave advance notice that the PGC annual Christmas decorating at Patterson Healthcare Center will take place at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 28.

Daisy LeBlanc and Estay announced that the October Yard of the Month award was presented to Doug and Valerie Streety. Juanita Bienvenu was the winner of the half-and-half drawing held at the end of the meeting.

Next month’s meeting will be Nov. 12 at the PACC. Hostesses will be Ginger Griffin, Rosa Butler and Guidry.
