Morgan City man arrested for marijuana possession

The Morgan City Police Department made one arrest, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco.

—Joey Francois, 32, of Robin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday for driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, driving wrong way on one-way street and a hold for the sheriff’s office for failure to appear. He was traveling the wrong way on the unprotected side of the seawall near Terrebonne Street, and the officer who made the traffic stop noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Francois remains jailed with bail not yet set.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reported no arrests in the eastern part of the parish overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
