Angelle, a Breaux Bridge native, served as secretary for Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources from 2004 until recently when he announced his candidacy for the Public Service Commission. During that time he also served as Interim Lieutenant Governor following Mitch Landrieu’s election to mayor of New Orleans and as legislative liaison to Governor Jindal.
He is a former St. Martin parish Police Juror and was elected St. Martin’s first parish president in 2000. He was recently appointed by the Governor to serve on the LSU Board of Supervisors.
A father of five and avid sportsman, Scott Angelle is no stranger to the oil patch. He noted in a recent comment, “If Louisiana’s economy is to continue to grow and new and better jobs are to be created, it is critical that we have stable and low cost energy,” he said. “As a member of the Public Service Commission, I will fight to protect Louisiana from overburdening federal regulations … and work to ensure low cost energy for all of Louisiana, making our economy stronger and new and better jobs available.”
“The Public Service Commission operates at the intersection of the three Es – energy, environment and economy,” Angelle said. He noted PSC actions can impact all three and he wants to help assure it’s in a positive way.
We believe having someone with the comprehensive energy knowledge and an appreciation for what will work and what will not work is invaluable for Louisiana utility customers. Many state public service commissions have saddled ratepayers with high costs for dubious alternative energy projects and schemes that turned out to be impractical and unaffordable. We believe Angelle is the best choice in this race to see that such boondoggles never occur in Louisiana.
