Jeanerette holds off WSM

BALDWIN _ Abdul Tate scored on a yard run, leading the Jeanerette Tigers to a 6-0 District 6-2A win over the undermanned West St. Mary Wolfpack Friday at Wolfpack Stadium.

Tate’s late-game score enabled the Tigers to post not only their first win of the season but also their first district win.

Jeanerette moved to 1-8 and 1-3 on the season with the win.

Ta’Mon Lockett was the West St. Mary top rusher with 18 carries for 48 yards.

Lockett also connected on 6 of 22 passes for 22 yards and 3 interceptions.

Darien Dwyer made three catches for 15 yards.

West St. Mary dropped to 0-9 and 0-3 in league play with the season finale Friday on the road versus the Catholic High School of New Iberia Panthers.
