Lumberjacks topple Hornets

PATTERSON _ Patterson’s Larry Turner scored on a pair of touchdown runs, sending the Patterson Lumberjacks to a 14-0 District 9-3A victory over the Franklin Senior High School Hornets here Friday at Lumberjack Stadium.

Turner guided the Lumberjacks to the victory as the tough defensive battle was decided on his touchdowns in both the second and third periods. Turner hit paydirt from 16 yards out late in the second quarter as the Lumberjacks moved ahead by a 6-0 advantage.

Turner added his second score on a one-yard plunge in the third period before the Jacks converted on the two-point conversion with quarterback Denzel Johnson connecting with N. Jones, sending the Lumberjacks to the 14-0 victory.

Brian Robertson led the Hornets in rushing with 16 carries for 80 yards. Brandon McFarlane ran six times for 44 yards while Jarion Brown had 16 totes for 26 yards with LaShon Johnson picking up six yards on three carries and Stephon Poledore rushed two times for five yards.

Jarion Brown connected on three passes for 18 yards with LaShon Johnson hauling in two receptions for 20 yards.

Franklin (4-5, 1-4) will close out the regular season on Friday at the Berwick Panthers in District 9-3A action.
