Techeland Arts Council sponsored its second fundraiser Friday in advance of next year’s performance of an all-new “No Hitchin.” The event was held at the Lamp Post in Franklin and featured a barbershop quartet, above, as well as an original skit, below, to entertain patrons of the organization’s endeavor: To create a live production based on the history, traditions, culture and stories of the west St. Mary Parish area. Next year’s production will be entitled “Bayou Storm Rising” and according to the group’s website is “a brand-new, original folk-history musical revue… tells the story of a unique community and its people as they prepare to meet, and emerge victorious over, the flukiness (and sometimes fickleness) of nature and of life, while coming to terms with their shared history, their heritage and themselves.” See www.techeland.org for more information.
