“Jazzin’ It Up For 200 Years!” will commence at 8 a.m. with a “Fun Walk” in a boot-shape around downtown Morgan City, Steve Morell, Main Street manager, said.
“Along the walk, there will be tables set up that represent Lake Charles, Monroe, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. These tables will offer a few fun facts about the city and possibly some tourist information. The walk will bring participants right by our monthly Bridge Market, also taking place that Saturday morning,” Morell said.
At 10 a.m., the Big Fun Brass Band will play at the gazebo in Lawrence Park.
“While they are playing, our five downtown restaurants will be set up buffet style so that people who have bought tickets can enjoy a small dish from each restaurant that they think represents the state,” Morell said.
“Latin Corner will be serving shrimp and andouille grits. Rita Mae’s Kitchen will be serving mini hamburgers. Café JoJo’s will be serving seafood crepes. Newtalia Café will be serving crab cakes. Sweet & Simple Cupcakes & Cakes will be serving a mini cupcake.”
A few plates will be available to purchase that date, but Morell recommends buying tickets in advance.
“Main Street has already received approval from the city to sell alcohol during this event. We would love for you to help Main Street celebrate Louisiana’s 200th birthday,” he said
