CUT OFF — St. Mary Parish was well-represented on the Bayou District Swim Small School boys’ team, which was announced Monday following the Bayou District meet here, including the Small School District MVP.

Central Catholic senior Ryan Ratcliff was named District MVP on the team, comprised of swimmers in Class 4A and below.

Ratcliff’s coach and mom, Charlotte Ratcliff, said it is the first time that any swimmer, male or female, from a St. Mary Parish school has earned MVP honors.

Joining Ratcliff on the All-District team are teammate senior Gage Green, as well as three Berwick swimmers, seniors Evan Boudreaux and Anthony Richard and junior Joshua Miller.

The other two selections on the squad were made up of South Terrebonne swimmers senior Shawn Deroche and freshman Logan Soulet.

On the girls’ squad, Berwick had two representatives, junior Olivia Gilbert and sophomore Marissa Champagne.

The MVP was freshman Payton Gold of South Terrebonne.

Other All-District swimmers on the squad included senior Meghan Domangue of South Terrebonne, as well as her teammates junior Micaiah Richie, and sophomores Julia Arceneaux and Natalie Domangue. Ellender Memorial senior Hannah Frisella also was chosen for the squad.

Selection to the squad was based on performances at the district meet. See page 11 for complete local results from the event.
