Dugas, Napier, Wiltz are among Jindal appointees to election board

BATON ROUGE, La. — Appointments to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors were announced Friday by Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The Parish Board of Election Supervisors reviews election laws and procedures used in conducting elections in the state; reports its findings, observations, and recommendations annually to the legislature; and serves as a clearinghouse for proposed election-related legislation.

According to the statute, the Parish Boards of Election Supervisors is compiled of a board from each parish in the state, which includes the specific parish’s registrar of voters, clerk of court, chair of each parish-recognized political party or their designees, and a gubernatorial appointee residing in that parish. All gubernatorial appointments are subject to senate confirmation.

Area apointments include the following.

Richard Dugas of Cecilia is a deputy assessor for St. Martin Parish. Dugas will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. Martin Parish Board of Election Supervisors.

Patrick Napier of Jeanerette is the manager of David Funeral Home. Napier will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the Iberia Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.

Gary Wiltz of Franklin is the Executive Director of Teche Action Clinic. Wiltz will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee on the St. Mary Parish Board of Election Supervisors, as required by statute.
