NEW ORLEANS – Services for retired U.S. Dist. Judge Charles Schwartz, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Nov. 3 at age 90.
He was a US. Army veteran of World War II and a retired Army Reserve major. He served on Louisiana’s Eastern District bench from 1976 until 2001. He was also a former judge of the US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Lake Lawn, Metairie.
Urologist, medical director
HARRISONBURG – Services will be Saturday for urologist and former hospital medical director Dr. Basil Trunzler, IV. He died Nov. 8 at age 76.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was former chief of staff at Natchez, Miss. Regional Hospital and former medical director of Sicily Island Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Joy, two sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Magnolia.
Lumberman, banker
ALEXANDRIA – Services for former lumberman and banker Lawrence Kellogg, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Nov. 2 at age 77.
He was former president of L.D. Kellogg Lumber Co. and former board member of Guaranty Bank & Trust, later purchased by Hibernia Bank. He was former president of Rapides United Givers and long-time treasurer of the Rapides Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by John Kramer & Son.
Family daughter, medical director
OAK GROVE – Services for family doctor and former medical director Dr. Jack Golson will be Monday. He died Nov. 4 at age 88.
He was a U.S. Navy aviation veteran of World War II. He and Dr. T.G. Biggs, Jr. operated a clinic from 1955 until West Carroll Hospital was founded. He practiced in the parish for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, two sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Cox.
Third-generation physician
NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Nov. 17 for third-generation physician Dr. Isable “Missy” Ochsner. She died Nov. 6 at age 56.
She was a daughter of Dr. Alton Ochsner, Jr. and was an emergency room physician. She worked at Southern Baptist Hospital (now Ochsner Medical Center) until Hurricane Katrina closed it. She subsequently worked at several area hospitals, most recently at Thibodaux General.
Survivors include three sisters.
Arangements are by Lake Lawn, Metairie.
Acclaimed novelist
NATCHEZ, Miss. _ Private services are scheduled for writer Ellen Douglas. Sh died Nov. 7 at age 91.
She grew up in Alexandria, La. Her real name was Josephine Ayres Haxton. She published 11 books, including six novels. Her “Apostles of Light” was a National Book Award nominee.
Survivors include three daughters.
