The Morgan City girls’ swim team was among the local competitors at the Top 24 Regional Championship Nov. 3. The squad finished 15th with 38 points, while they combined with the boys’ squad for a 14th place finish with 84 points in the combined team scoring. The top 24 featured competitors from the various district meets held earlier during the week in Lafayette. At the district meet, the team finished second. Because none of the Morgan City girls’ swimmers qualified for Louisiana High School Athletic Association state competition, Saturday was their last meet. Team members include, front row from left, Kaitlyn Percle and Callie Breaux. On the middle row are Maggie Landry, Kalyn Dupree, Shawn Guillot and Ashley Rock. On the back row are Valeria Nolasco, Kayla Perot, Lauren Aucoin, captain, Destinie Scully and Kaitlyn Verret.
LAFAYETTE — All four Tri-City area swim teams were represented at the Top 24 Regional Championship Nov. 3.
In team scoring, Berwick’s boys picked up a third-place finish with 193 points, while its girls’ squad finished ninth with 102 points.
In combined scoring, Berwick finished fifth with 295 points.
Morgan City finished 13th in boys’ scoring with 46 points, 15th in girls’ scoring with 38 points, and 14th in combined scoring with 84 points.
Central Catholic finished 14th in boys’ scoring with 38 points and 17th in team scoring with 38 points, while Patterson finished 19th in boys’ scoring with 23 points and 23rd in team scoring with 23 points.
Lafayette High won the boys’ and combined team titles with scores of 356 and 629½, respectively.
Barbe High School won the girls’ title, easily outscoring second-place finisher Lafayette High, 413½-273½.
