Together, they have worked with the depot a total of 39 years.
Glenn Druilhet, Richard Burgess, Joanne Stelly and Diana Dudleson will be honored Saturday.
Although Sager Brown has been in ministry since 1867, it was following Hurricane Andrew that UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) determined that the Sager Brown campus in Baldwin was an excellent location to build a depot from which disaster relief kits could be collected and provided worldwide. Since then, health kits, school kits, layette kits, birthing kits and bedding kits have been sent as far away as Africa.
Kits and cleaning buckets are distributed within the United States during disasters such as Hurricane Isaac and, most recently, Hurricane Sandy. Volunteers from around the country go to Sager Brown to work on the kits as well as participate in community programs such as housing repairs, Food for Families food distributions, volunteering at Chez Hope, Mickey Mouse Head Start and Raintree Elementary.
Glenn Druilhet has given 20 years to the depot as the director of depot operations. Her job involved training the stream of volunteers that came every day to work at the depot. Glenn also directed shipping operations and inspection of the various kits the volunteers packaged for worldwide distribution.
Richard Burgess has worked in the facilities department for eight years as the groundskeeper and general repairman at Sager Brown. Richard kept everything running at Sager Brown.
Joanne Stelly has been part of food service for six years. She prepared the morning and noon meals that helped make the volunteer experience more pleasant as they gathered daily to eat and develop friendships.
For those wishing to schedule a team to volunteer to work at the depot, Dianna Dudleson, manager of the volunteer program was the person to speak to. Dianna has been responsible for scheduling and registering volunteer teams and welcoming them to the campus for the past five years.
Area residents are invited to drop by the Baldwin Community Center, 305 La. 83, Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and wish them well in their retirement years.
