St. Mary Parish deputies work shoplifting complaints

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Bryan P. Roy II, 24, Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:36 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart in Bayou Vista and charged with theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting. Upon arrival at the store the deputy learned from store security that Roy was observed placing items in his pants. Roy then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. He was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 27, 2013.

—Kevin Darby, 22, of Martin Luther King Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 2:27 a.m. Thursday in the Patterson Civic Center parking lot on a charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy observed Darby yelling at another male subject. After being asked several times by the deputy to leave the area, Darby refused and the deputy noticed the odor of alcohol on Darby’s breath, the report stated. Darby was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $250 bail.

—Debra Myers, 53, of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:39 p.m. Thursday at Walmart in Bayou Vista on a charge of simple battery. A deputy working detail at the store responded to a report of an altercation near the clothing area. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from witnesses that Myers punched a female victim in the face. Myers was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on a $500 bail.

—Jamie Tolentino Hernandez, 33, of North First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:45 a.m. Saturday on La. 182 in Morgan City on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a motor vehicle without lawful presence in the United States and driving the wrong way on a one way street. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed fail to stop at a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the driver of the vehicle, Hernandez, was wanted on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $1,500.

—Ceaser Keith Lopez, 38, of Amanda Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Saturday on charges of three counts of simple battery. A deputy responded to a residence in reference to a complaint of a fight. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from multiple witnesses that Lopez struck three victims, two males and one female, during a physical altercation, the report stated. Lopez was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $1,500 bail.

—Candice K. Martin, 24, of Odile Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. Sunday at Walmart in Bayou Vista on a charge of theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Martin was observed placing an item in her purse and concealing an item of clothing beneath another clothing item on a hanger. Martin then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, the report stated. Martin was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 27, 2013.

—Billy Wayne Livingston, 46, of Park Avenue in Monroe, was arrested at 2:51 a.m. today on a warrant from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for forgery. A deputy was approached by Livingston on La. 182 in Amelia. The deputy conducted a warrants check and discovered that Livingston was wanted on a warrant from Calcasieu Parish. He was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $5,000.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:

—Mauricio Cruz Rivera, 40, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday and charged with disturbing the peace and public possession of alcohol. Rivera was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $584.

—Carlos Santos, 36, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:36 a.m. Thursday and charged with simple battery, aggravated assault, resisting an officer, warrants for probation violation, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for disturbing the peace, reckless operation, no seatbelt, no vehicle inspection sticker, no vehicle registration, no insurance and contempt of court. Santos was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.

—Shantell Hartedgen, 29, of La. 20 in Schriever, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Thursday and charged with disturbing the peace, resisting an officer and public possession of alcohol. She was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $1,476.

—Laquesha Grogan, 21, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:37 a.m. Friday and charged with disturbing the peace, simple battery and resisting an officer. She was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $1,476.

—Joann Robinson, 49, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Friday and charged with aggravated second degree battery. She was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time

—Miseal Garcia, 23, of Lakeview Drive in Amelia, was arrested at 12:10 p.m. Sunday and charged with possession of contraband into a penal institution, possession of marijuana, possession of legend drug without a prescription (Clonidine). Garcia was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.

—Virgal Ashley Jr., 59, of Twin City Motel in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:28 a.m. Monday and charged with obscenity. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

—Vince Murray, 52, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11 p.m. Saturday and charged with DWI first offense and careless operation of a motor vehicle with a wreck. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Luke Derise, 20, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Saturday on Red Cypress Road and charged with DWI first offense, speeding 44 mph in a 35 mph zone and having an open container. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.
