The City of Franklin’s Christmas parade and lamp-lighting ceremony will take place Thursday at 6 p.m.

Line-up for the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Jackson and Main Streets.

The deadline to register as a golf cart driver or as a walker is Wednesday at 12 p.m. Registration is free.

To register as a walker, contact the Office of Community Development, 828-6345 or at:

ashields@franklin-la.com

Provide the name of the organization, contact information for the organization’s leader and the number of people participating.

To register a golf cart, contact the Office of Community Development and ask for a registration form, which can be picked up at City Hall or faxed or e-mailed.

“The City of Franklin hopes that you and your family will join our families for the parade and the revealing of this year’s Lamplighters,” Mayor Raymond Harris said.

In a hint as to who this year’s Lamplighters are he said they are based in Franklin, but their influence is felt throughout St. Mary Parish.
