Jayla Broussard died at a Baton Rouge hospital last week after being transferred from an Abbeville facility.
Police were called by personnel at that facility after insistent statements from the child’s mother and her fiancee about how the baby was hurt.
According to David Hardy, head of investigations for the Abbeville Police Department, the three-month-old died of head trauma.
