St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the arrest of a 28-year-old man who appeared in the Daily Review’s Most Wanted series on Nov. 30.

Brianell Sharard Wilson, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, turned himself in at 9:56 a.m. Dec. 2 at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. Wilson turned himself in after learning of the warrant for his arrest. His bail is set at $25,000.

After the Nov. 30 Most Wanted feature was published, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received numerous tips on several of the suspects being sought, including Wilson, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Hebert said these types of partnerships between the community and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office make it difficult for suspects to evade authorities. Community policing and public awareness is a key component to ensuring public safety in St. Mary Parish, he stated.
