PATTERSON — The Patterson High School Lumberjills dropped a 48-43 decision to Jeanerette in non-district action at home Thursday.
Patterson (1-4) trailed 23-21 at the half, and Jeanerette extended its lead after three quarters to 37-31.
While the ’Jills outscored Jeanerette 12-11 in the fourth quarter, it wasn’t enough.
Tiera Butler and Nakia Brooks were tops for Patterson with nine points apiece. Butler added seven rebounds, a steal and a block, while Brooks added six blocks, five steals and two rebounds.
Other top Patterson contributors included Jazmin Evans, eight points, two steals and a rebound; Alex Benjamin, six points, two rebounds and two steals; Gaylen Grogan, five points and four rebounds; and Tala Johnson, four points, six rebounds and a steal.
While Patterson was scheduled to host Breaux Bridge today, Patterson coach LaGenia Darnell said that game has been canceled and will not be made up. Patterson will return to action Wednesday when it plays Hanson in the Hanson tournament.
Central Catholic eases

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles outscored St. James in every quarter en route to a 57-32 victory Thursday in their opening game at Vandebilt Catholic tournament in Houma.
In outscoring St. James, the Lady Eagles (5-1) put up double figures in each quarter. The largest margin was an 18-6 advantage after a period of play.
Meo Knight and Randi Brown each recorded double-doubles in the win, with Brown two assists shy of a triple-double. Knight scored 26 points and recorded 11 rebounds as well as two blocks, five steals and three assists, while Brown scored 15 points, had 12 rebounds and also recorded eight assists, two blocks and a steal.
Other top Central Catholic contributors included Caroline Byrne, five points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal; Megan Landry, four points, six rebounds and a steal; and Hallie Autin, three points.
Central Catholic will return to action today in the Vandebilt Catholic tournament against Ponchatoula at 5 p.m.
