BERWICK — The Berwick Panthers used a big third quarter to defeat visiting Hanson Memorial, 54-53, Monday.
Trailing 28-19 at the half, Berwick outscored Hanson 23-10 in the third quarter to take a 42-38 lead after three quarters.
However, things wouldn’t be easy in the fourth quarter as the Panthers had to hold on for the 54-53 win after Hanson outscored them 15-12 in the final period.
Palmer Cox led three Panthers in double figures with 19 points. Others reaching double figures included Chaz Russo with 13 and Brandon Naverro with 10. Devin Tabor added seven.
In other news, in Monday’s story about Berwick’s 56-46 loss to Ascension Episcopal, Russo’s point total was incorrect. He had 18 points, not eight as reported. The Daily Review regrets this error.
Other top contributors for Berwick in Friday’s loss included Nick Canty with 10 points and Nicholas Osburn with seven.
Berwick (3-6) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Patterson High’s Lumberjack Tournament with a 5:15 p.m. matchup against St. Martinville.
