WEST MONROE – Using a man’s deer stand without permission is not only impolite but could also be a crime, and Ouachita deputies arrested a man Monday afternoon accused of being in someone else’s deer stand.

Michael Ray Heisler, 53, of West Monroe is accused of trespassing and also possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Deputies were called to a hunting area after the complainant found Heisler in his deer stand.

Reports indicated that when deputies arrived, Heisler was apparently intoxicated and standing in waist-deep water. He allegedly dropped his .30-06 in the water and told deputies he did not have a gun.

Another man retrieved the gun and when questioned, Heisler said he lied because he was not supposed to have a gun.
