Franklin (3-6) opened with a 10-2 run before Centerville used a 15-14 second quarter surge to draw within 24-19 at the half. In the third quarter, Centerville (10-6) went on an 11-5 run to take a 30-29 advantage in the third quarter. Centerville benefited from a 19-12 run in the final period to pull out the 49-41 win.
Brennan Robinson led the Hornets in scoring with 11 points on four field goals and 3 of 4 charity shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were: Derrick Kelly, 7; Jarion Brown, 6; Jamal Johnson, 6; Cedric Paul, 4; DeAndre Charles, 3; Tarence Clark, 2 and De’Marcus Bowie, 2.
Jumanji Washington poured in a game-high 18 points to help propel the Centerville Bulldogs. Washington drained one trey, four deuces and 7 of 8 free throws for 18 points.
Centerville’s Jerome Williams also finished in double digits, bagging 14 points on five field goals and a perfect 4 for 4 charity shots.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Quinton Nettles, 7; Zacchaeus Jackson, 4; Juwan Thomas, 4 and Rodney Harris, 2.
Franklin will play today at 4:30 p.m. against Delcambre in the First National Bank of Jeanerette Hanson Holiday Classic at the Billy Gene Talbot Gym.
