Jack, who poured in 14 points on the night, drained the game-winning trey which sent the Wolfpack over the Hornets by the three-point margin at 54-51 in overtime.
West St. Mary outpointed Franklin by a 10-7 margin in the extra session, breaking the 44-44 tie at the end of regulation.
In girls action, the Teurlings Lady Rebels topped the E. D. White Lady Cardinals 34-25 while the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack toppled the Franklin Lady Hornets, 55-39.
Two games are on tap for today: Teurlings Lady Rebels will battle the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. while the Hanson Memorial Tigers will play the Delcambre Panthers at 6 p.m.
A full slate of games will be played on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the E. D. White Lady Cardinals playing the Franklin Lady Hornets. The Delcambre Panthers will battle the Kaplan Pirates at 11 a.m. At 12:30, the Patterson Lady Jills will take on the winner of the EDWhite-Franklin contest. The Kaplan Pirates will square off against the Franklin Hornets at 2 p.m. The Hanson Lady Tigers will take on the survivor of the Teurlings Lady Rebels-West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack in the girls championship game at 3:30 p.m. before the Hanson Memorial Tigers play the West St. Mary Wolfpack in the final contest at 5 p.m.
WEST ST. MARY 54, FRANKLIN 51 OT
West St. Mary rallied from a 34-24 deficit at the end of the third quarter thanks to a 20-10 spurt in the final period, knotting the game at 44-all.
During the extra session, West St. Mary earned the victory when Jack pumped in his game-winning trey with 5.4 seconds remaining.
Glenn Marsh led the Wolfpack in scoring with 16 points on seven field goals and 2 of 4 free throws. Jack finished with 14 points on five floor shots along with 4 of 6 freebies. Jeremiah White tossed in 12 points on a pair of treys, one deuce and 2 of 2 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wolfpack were: Desmond White, 5; Travis Jones, 4 and Kyler Jackson, 2.
Jarion Brown led the Hornets with 17 points on five field goals and 7 of 12 free throws.
Other top scorers for the Hornets included: Derrick Kelly, 7; Cedric Paul, 7; DeAndre Charles, 7; Brennen Robinson, 6; Jamal Johnson, 2 and Brandon McFarlane, 2.
WEST ST. MARY LADY WOLFPACK 55, FRANKLIN LADY HORNETS 39
The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack grabbed an early lead of which they never relinquished in posting a 55-39 victory over the Franklin Lady Hornets in the HMS Holiday Classic.
West St. Mary led by a 10-4 first quarter score before going on a 13-4 second quarter run to secure a 23-8 halftime cushion. At the end of the third stanza, the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack held an insurmountable 42-23 advantage. West St. Mary went on to record the 55-39 win over the Franklin Lady Hornets.
Amber Joe fired in a game-high 22 points on eight deuces, one trey and 3 of 5 free throws to lead the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack. Alexis Cross poured in 13 points on five floor shots and 3 of 7 freebies while Gentrelle Wells bagged 11 points on one trey, a trio of deuces and 2 of 2 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wolfpack were: Sequoya Ferguson, 5; Chi’Kira Tillman, 2 and Tajah Lofton, 2.
Quinta Jones led the Lady Hornets in scoring with 18 points on six deuces and three treys. Fabian Small also scored in double digits with 10 points on five field goals while Chardonaye Parker tossed in seven points and Wyneshia Jenkins finished with four points.
