Brittney Broussard scored a game-high 13 points, leading the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 43-41 victory over the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack in the girls championship contest.
Hanson raced outfront by a 12-2 lead at the end of the first quarter before West St. Mary benefited from a 16-12 second quarter run to trail the Lady Tigers by a 24-18 margin at the half. At the end of the third stanza, the Lady Tigers held a narrow 36-32 advantage. Both teams scored seven points each during a hectic fourth quarter as the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers posted the 43-41 victory to win the 2012 HMS Holiday Classic title.
Broussard led the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Other top scorers for the Lady Tigers were: Macie Guillotte, 9; Emily Sonnier, 8; Katie Sonnier, 8 and.; Kim Sonnier, 5.
Amber Joe led the Lady Wolfpack with a game-hgh 23 points.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wolfpack were: Gentrell Wells, 5; Sequorya Ferguson, 5; Cha’Kira Tillman, 5 and Alexis Cross, 3.
WEST ST. MARY 64, HANSON 38
The West St. Mary Wolfpack finished with a perfect 3-0 record in the HMS Holiday Tournament Boys 3-Game Guarantee format with Saturday’s 64-38 win over the Hanson Memorial Tigers.
Glenn Marsh and Travis Jones fired in 18 points apiece to propel the Wolfpack over the Tigers.
Other top scorers for West St. Mary were: Kyler Jackson, 10; Chris Jones, 7; Davon Anderson, 4; Theron Jack, 4 and Radsheed Allen, 3.
Leading scorers for the HMS Tigers were: Royce Norton, 14; Bo Barrilleaux, 9; Garett Burns, 4; Kameron Clements, 4; Jacob Hebert, 3; Josh Sanchez, 2 and Jacob Stewart, 2.
ED WHITE LADY CARDINALS 69, FRANKLIN LADY HORNETS 25
M. Jones scored a team-high 15 points, lifting the E. D. White Lady Cardinals to a 69-25 victory over the Franklin Lady Hornets in the HMS Holiday Classic.
Fabian Small led the Lady Hornets with seven points.
KAPLAN 61, DELCAMBRE 46
Jalen Bates fired in 15 points, sending the Kaplan Pirates to a 61-46 win over the Delcambre Panthers in Saturday’s action in the HMS Holiday Classic.
Chevaun Walters led Delcambre with 17 points.
KAPLAN 56, FRANKLIN 48
Darius Jordan and Devante Davis pumped in 17 points apiece to help propel the Kaplan Pirates past the Franklin Hornets by a final score of 56-48.
Cedric Paul and David Kinchen poured in 14 and 11 points respectively to lead the Hornets.
