PATTERSON, La. -- The Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau commission approved the settlement of all claims related to the repair of the foundation and completion of construction of its Welcome Center and Interpretive Facility.

The commission voted to settle all claims among all parties, in regard to the sinking of the center while it was under construction in June, at its special meeting Tuesday at the Patterson Civic Center, according to attorney Gary McGoffin of Durio, McGoffin, Stagg & Ackermann.

The settlement stated that the appearance, finish and function should conform to Washer Hill Lipscomb Architecture’s original plans on the following terms:

—Payment of $3,100,781.99 to Phoenix Cajun Coast Corporation account for the benefit of the commission.

—Payment by the commission in the sum of $260,000 to Phoenix Cajun Coast Corporation representing the construction costs remaining on the original construction contract for the Welcome Center.

—Retention of all credit amounts due on the Phoenix-Expert House Movers contract for the benefit of the commission subject to audit verification.
