MORGAN CITY, La. — The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team defeated Jeanerette handily Monday night at home, 73-35, after outscoring Jeanerette, 49-12, in the first half.

Randi Brown led the Central Catholic Eagles with 24 points, shooting 11 of 15 from the field. Meoshanti Knight added 20 points for the Soaring Eagles and Abbie Bergeron scored 11 points.

Central Catholic got out to a 28-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. By the end of the third quarter, the team was up 65-19. Jeanerette outscored Central Catholic 16-8 in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles shot 29 of 53, or 54.7 percent, from the field.
