MORGAN CITY, La. -- Three new AT&T cell sites were activated in the Tri-City area Wednesday.

The new towers are in:

—North Morgan City along Maple Street

—Morgan City along Sixth Street and U.S. 90

—Berwick, near La. 182 and Old Spanish Trail

These new sites will provide for advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content to customers in the area, according to Sue Sperry, public relations manager for AT&T’s Gulf States region.

“Demand for wireless bandwidth is growing rapidly, and we want to meet that demand for our customers,” said Donna Byrne, regional director, AT&T Louisiana. “We will continue to invest in the technology of the future.”

State Sen. Bret Allain, R-Adeline, weighed in on the addition.

“By improving infrastructure in our area, we are making it easier for new businesses to move to St. Mary Parish and for businesses already located here to upgrade their technology,” said Allain.

Additionally, Donna Meyer, president of the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce, also noted what this change would do for business.

“We are so grateful to our local legislative delegation and other local elected officials who are focused on improving the economic vitality of the St. Mary area and bringing the community to its full potential,” said Meyer.
