Alleged thief knocks Walmart employee to ground, seriously injuring her, and flees

ABBEVILLE – An elderly woman checking customers’ baskets as they leave Walmart was seriously injured when knocked down by an alleged teen thief.

The woman, name not released, was allegedly knocked down by Montavain Mitchell, 17.

Police said he allegedly had a basketful of items and was attempting to leave with it, when the woman who checks the receipts as customers are walking out of the store, asked to see his.

Mitchell allegedly did not have a receipt for the items in the basket and bumped her down with his shoulder, causing her to fall on the hard floor.

Mitchell darted out of the store with the basket and was tracked down nearby.

It was not known if the items in the basket were located or what they were.
