Central Catholic’s Josh Singleton and Dontrell Brown were named to the 2012 Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A All-State Honorable Mention team.

Singleton was selected as an athlete. The senior played quarterback, receiver, defensive back and punter. He was 18-of-30 passing for 298 yards and 4 touchdowns while he carried the ball 37 times for 251 yards and 5 TDs. Singleton also had 35 catches for 220 yards and 3 scores while averaging 40 yards per punt. On defense, he had 21 solo tackles and 12 assists while grabbing two interceptions. He was also a special team’s ace.

“He was really busy this season. I don’t know when he came off the field,” Central Catholic head coach David Fuhrer. “He moved from quarterback to receiver this season to help the team, so it’s great to see him recognized with this honor.”

Brown was the CCHS leading receiver in 2012. He caught 41 passes for 844 yards and 11 touchdowns.

“Dontrell worked very hard this season, fighting through injuries,” Fuhrer said. “This is a great reward for his hard work.”
