LAFAYETTE _ The Bayou Teche Pee Wee Football League team competed in the US Youth Football National Championship here at the Comeaux High School Stadium with teams in the 10U and 12U divisions recently.

The Bayou Teche Eagles 10U team won their first game by beating the Abbeville Legends by the score of 20-6 before dropping their next two games to the Lafayette Swampcats (22-0) and the Brown’s Park Falcons (18-0).

The Bayou Teche Bears 12U squad opened tournament play with a narrow 22-18 loss to the Lafayette Swampcats in Saturday’s first game. Playing in the loser’s bracket on Saturday night, the Bayou Teche Bears defeated the Abbeville Legends 12U by the score of 20-18. On Sunday the Bayou Teche Bears defeated the Moss Bluff Louisiana Broncos by a score of 28-12.

The Bayou Teche Bears won by forfeit over the Pontchartrain Saints of New Orleans.

The Bayou Teche Bears defeated the Beaumont Texas Texans by a score of 18-0 to capture third place in the tournament.
