The Morgan City Lady Tigers finished 1-1-1 at the St. Louis Showcase last week as the squad defeated Alexandria, lost to Sulphur and tied St. Louis Catholic.

Against Alexandria, the Lady Tigers were victorious, 1-0. Carmen Araujo scored the game’s lone goal.

In a 1-1 tie against St. Louis Catholic, ranked 8th in Division 2, Celeste Williams scored Morgan City’s goal.

In the final game, Morgan City fell to Sulphur, 4-0.

“It was two great results in the first two games, especially against St. Louis for our second game,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said. “We only had one substitute for the three games, so the girls were very tired and beat up … which showed in the last game against Sulphur.”

Lutcher defeated St. Louis Catholic in the finals.

While the Morgan City boys and girls were scheduled to travel to Lutcher for non-district action tonight, Patterson said the game has been canceled due to a shortage of his players on both squads from a combination of injuries and vacation.

Both squads will resume non-district play at home Saturday against H.L. Bourgeois with girls set for an 11 a.m. start and boys to follow.

The Lady Tigers currently have a record of 11-7-1 and are 2-0 in district play, while the Tigers (3-12, 2-0), who got off to a slow start this season, are currently riding a two-game win streak as they have won their first two district games.
