North Vermilion went on an early 19-9 first quarter spurt of which they never relinquished on the way to a 57-50 District 9-3A victory over the Franklin Senior High School Hornets Wednesday at the FSHS Gym.

Tarence Clark led the Hornets in scoring with 14 points on six field goals and 2 of 4 free throws. Jamal Johnson and DeAndre Charles pumped in 13 points apiece. Johnson drained a trio of deuces, one trey and 4 of 5 freebies while Charles bagged a pair of treys along with two deuces and 3 of 6 charity shots.

Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were: Jarion Brown, 5; Brennan Robinson, 4 and D’Marcus Bowie, 1.

Franklin (6-11, 1-1) will play host to Jeanerette on Friday in non-district action.
