Central LaFourche slips by Hanson Lady Tigers, 60-58

Sateria Loston scored a game-high 30 points, leading the Central LaFourche Lady Trojans to a narrow 60-58 win over the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers Wednesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.

The Hanson Lady Tigers jumped outfront by a 10-4 first quarter advantage before CLHS went on a 20-10 rally in the second stanza for a 24-20 lead at intermission. Both teams tallied 15 points apiece in the third stanza as the Lady Trojans clung to a 39-35 cushion heading into the final period. Hanson managed to outpoint Central LaFourche by a 23-21 margin but the Lady Trojans hung on for the nail-biting 60-58 win.

Emily Sonnier led the Lady Tigers with 27 points on a pair of treys, 10 two-point baskets and 1 of 8 free throws. Macie Guillotte also finished in double digits with 11 points on two treys, one deuce and 3 of 6 freebies.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Kim Sonnier, 7; Brittney Broussard, 5; Haley Bollinger, 3; Olivia Luke, 2; Katie Sonnier, 2 and Stephanie Landry, 1.

CLHS’ Loston connected on 11 field goals, including three treys and 5 of 9 free throws.

Hanson (10-7) will travel to face the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack on Friday in non-district action.
